Kilifi Boatyard is situated on the Kilifi Creek, a magnificent deep water, sheltered creek on the East Coat of Africa, 29 miles north of Mombasa . The creek is spectacularly beautiful and many European residents of East Africa have chosen Kilifi as their retirement home. The East Coast of Africa lies outside the cyclone areas and Kilifi Creek offers year round safe mooring. The access from the sea during day time is easy and reasonably well indicated. The maximum clearance below the power line and below the bridge across the creek is 72 feet at low low spring tide
MALINDI -Malindi goes back many centuries and was an important Swahili settlement when Vasco da Gama arrived on the East Coast of Africa in the 15 th century. Vasco da Gama erected a large cross as a navigation aid . This cross is still there together with many other signs of the Portuguese presence. Malindi also has a Marine National Park and further a snake park and a falconry, with a large number of caged birds of prey, tortoises, and chimps. Malindi and Watamu have excellent deep sea fishing.
Kenya is famous for its natural wildlife parks and the beauty of its beaches. Kilifi is only 150 km from the nearest game park.. Kilifi is situated halfway between Mombasa and Malindi, both towns are at 65 km by tarmac road. Kilifi and its immediate surroundings have some famous tourist attractions:

MNARANI RUINS - Mnarani was one of the Swahili city - states along the East African coast, till the end of the 14th century..

WATAMU -A beach resort with its own Marine National Park , with a most impressive coral reef and clear underwater visibility.

GEDI RUINS - This is one of the famous tourist attractions on the coast . They are the extensive ruins of an
Arab- Swahili town, built of coral lime and earth.

Kenya 's most spectacular annual event is organised by an unlikely group - wildebeests. Literally hundreds of thousands of these ungainly antelopes move north en masse in July and August from the Serengeti Game Reserve to the Masai Mara Game Reserve in search of lush grass . They head south again around October. The best place to see this phenomenon is in the Masai Mara National Reserve.

MOMBASA has a very well preserved Portuguese fort, dating from the 15 th century and a very lively “ Old Town”. Mombasa City has good medical facilities, sophisticated supermarkets and an international airport. From Mombasa airport there are daily regular and charter flights to London , Paris , Milan and Frankfurt .
